Vicki Coy has been a Clinical Social Worker since 2006, received her Bachelors in Social Work in 1998, and has served the needs of individuals, couples, groups, and families in many capacities during those years. Offering bilingual services, Vicki has practiced in several different fields, including youth care worker, intake worker with Child Protection, Family Court social worker, clinical counsellor at the Mental Health Clinic for CFB Gagetown, instructor at St. Thomas University, and now as owner of Northside Counselling Services.
Vicki is a mother of two and has been married since 2000. She is actively involved in the social work community by participating in the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Social Workers, the Exam Committee with the Association of Social Work Boards, and events with the Fredericton Chapter of the NB Association of Social Workers. Vicki enjoys being involved with the Women and Business Network. She is passionate about the idea of self-care and because of this, goes to concerts throughout the year, volunteers with Ability NB and Harvest Jazz & Blues, and enjoys cooking, decorating cakes for her friends and family, and going to her spot at Grand Lake as often as possible. Appreciating and enjoying life is a priority for Vicki, and that’s what she wants to share with everyone coming into her office.
Vicki’s counselling approach uses Solution-focused Therapy, Strength-based Therapy, Reality Therapy and some aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Her sessions and work use practical, manageable, and effective strategies that can easily be applied to help with a variety of issues.
